Dolapcis in self colors |

Altinbas (Golden head) hen / DN 23 - Altinbas cock / DN 35 |

The first question that comes to mind about Dolapçi might be how it spins. Stretch open the fingers of one of your hands and while moving that arm towards the ground strait down turn it like a drill. If you imagine the middle finger as the tip of the beak and two fingers in each sides of it as the wings, you can imagine the spin of Dolapçi. |

Karaçil (black-freckles) hen / DN 16 - Karaçil cock / DN 21 |

The spirals your hand makes while going down is done in a tight and fast manner by a good dolapçi and the sparse wide spirals are done by a type of dolapçi called "Firtikci". Master breeders do not prefer Firtikci kind. |

Sütbeyaz (milk-white) cock / DN 34 - Sütbeyaz hen / DN 36 |

High flying dolapcis can only be kept in a stable altitude by another escorting kit breed. Because the raptors and other lofts in the surroundings have to be kept in mind Dolapçi breeders also keep breeds like Azman and Baska.. |

Zeytini (Olive like) hen / DN 10 - Bakiri (copper like) cock / DN 43 |

If your kit is experienced you can get them to fly with a whistle and with a sharp and high pitched whistle you can let them know of the presence of a raptor and demand that they fall (dive down). They also respond much better to the sounds we make signaling the feeding time than any other breed I have seen. |

Akçil (white-freckles) cock / DN 37 - Akçil hen / DN 20 |

I don't give much importance to the color coordination of the dolapcis I raise. I am very aware the performance is the first thing to look for in performing breeds. A Dolapçi that is good in the air has always looked good for me on the ground.. |

Gümüsi (Silver like) cock / DN 25 - Dumanli (smokey) hen / DN 28 |

The ratio of getting a different color of young from an identical colored pair is very high. For example, from a pair of karacil (black-freckles) you can easily get a red self, kirmizicil (red with white mottle), marticil (brown-freckles) or even akcil (white-freckles). Some fanciers do not like this quality of dolapcis but I think the determining factor has to be the performance. |

Gökçil (blue-freckles) hen / DN 13 - Basrali Gökçil (blue check-freckles) cock / DN 03 |
The dolapcis I keep in general come in freckled (white mottle marking) or self colors. I have to wait until the maturity or the end of the first molt to be able to see the real color of the freckled young I get from them. I think this is not a reasonable time frame for people following color patterns. |

Kirmizi Yamali (Red Patched) hen / DN 24 - Kirmizi Yamali cock / DN 09 |
One of the other important qualities looked for in a dolapçi is its intelligence. If what we call a "kafali" (with a head) type of Dolapçi is also a good performer in the air it is very close to the ideal. This is my breeding goal. |
